| Work to extend the Jane Addams Trail through downtown Freeport is on schedule, says Freeport Community Development Director Shelly Griswold. "This has been in the works since before I was here," said Griswold. "There has been plenty of planning that went into this ahead of time. The Jane Addams Trail Foundation was formed back in 1998." The Jane Addams Trail is a 12.85-mile stretch of path from Freeport to the Wisconsin state-line. At that point it turns into the Badger Trail, which is a 40-mile trail that leads to Madison, Wis.
